Under the supervision of the Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety or designee, the Director of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for the development, implementation, management and administration of programs, policies and procedures that support a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at the College. The Director will monitor, manage and administer the inspections, maintenance and repair of systems to include (but are not limited to) fire alarm and sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, elevators, boilers, underground fuel tanks, asbestos abatement, generators, Federal and State OSHA regulations /compliance, chemical and hazardous material handling and removal, PCB monitoring and provide technical and consultative services to the Campus Community
Under the direction of the Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety or designee, the Director of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for the development, implementation, management and administration of programs, policies and procedures that support a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at the College through effective performance in these essential duties:
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Master’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety, health physics, or a related field degree in an appropriately related
field together with three to six years of related experience that includes managing a comprehensive health and safety program and one to three years of supervisory experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Minimum Salary; $88,144 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.
