As the Head of Digital Game Technology, you will be at the forefront of driving technical innovation, AI integration, and shared technology solutions across our AAA game development teams. A day in the life of a Head of Digital Game Technology:

Define & Execute the Central Technology & AI Strategy

• Develop a long-term vision for shared technology, ensuring alignment with business and creative goals.
• Establish AI driven development tools, including procedural content generation, automated testing, and predictive analytics to optimize game production.
• Ensure game teams leverage machine learning, real-time data insights, and automation to enhance development efficiency.

Drive Innovation & Emerging Technologies

• Lead R&D efforts into AI-assisted animation, NPC behavior modeling, physics simulations, and automated asset creation.
• Collaborate with AI research teams and universities to explore deep learning applications in gameplay mechanics, personalization, and user engagement.
• Keep pace with industry trends by ensuring our teams apply new rendering, networking, and procedural generation techniques.

Foster Cross-Studio Collaboration & Technology Sharing

• Drive technology standardization across internal and external development teams.
• Develop centralized asset libraries, AI powered content pipelines, and scalable game services.
• Partner with IT to build a cloud-native infrastructure for distributed development and AI-enhanced production workflows.

Mentor & Grow Engineering Leadership

• Guide engineering teams in AI ethics, responsible machine learning, and scalable automation.
• Build a culture of continuous innovation through AI driven prototyping and rapid iteration.
• Establish mentorship programs, training initiatives, and career progression frameworks for emerging AI and technical talent.

Enhance Game Development Pipelines & AI Driven Quality Control

• Conduct technical reviews with studio heads to integrate AI-based debugging, performance optimization, and predictive balancing.
• Ensure best practices for real-time AI, procedural level design, and adaptive difficulty scaling.
• Collaborate with game directors to leverage AI for dynamic storytelling, intelligent NPC interactions, and player behavior analysis.

Strategic Partnerships & External Collaboration

• Work with AI middleware providers, cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), and academic AI labs to push boundaries in game development.
• Build relationships with Epic Games (Unreal Engine), Unity, and AI driven development platforms to optimize licensing and integrations.
• Collaborate with major game platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC storefronts (Steam, Epic Games Store, etc.) to ensure seamless technical support, platform optimization, and certification compliance.

What You'll Bring:

• 10+ years of experience in demonstrating a track record in leading all aspects of AAA game development across various titles, with a strong emphasis on tools and automation.
• Must have shipped a AAA game.
• Deep understanding of game engines (Unreal Engine preferred), AI-enhanced asset pipelines, and cloud-based game architectures.
• Deep technical expertise in AI for procedural content generation, reinforcement learning for game AI, and scalable automation.
• Track record of fostering engineering excellence and cross-team collaboration to drive consistent innovation.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and communicate complex AI and technical concepts clearly.
• Experience in machine learning for game analytics, neural networks for NPC behavior, or generative AI for art and animation a plus
• Prior leadership in a central technology or AI research group at a major AAA game studio a plus.

Compensation Range, Currency USD:
Starting Pay Range: $244,800
Pay Range End: $ 367,000
