Position Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Transmission Converter Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and precision balancing of torque converters for transmissions. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, hands-on experience with engine lathes, and a commitment to high-quality, consistent workmanship in a fast-paced production environment.

This position is compensated in the range of between $15.00 and $17.00 an hour depending on experience.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, clean, and inspect torque converters for wear, failure, or damaged components.
  • Operate an engine lathe to machine and prep converter components to required tolerances.
  • Replace or repair worn parts such as hubs, bearings, and clutch assemblies.
  • Reassemble torque converters to precise specifications using jigs, fixtures, and welding equipment.
  • Balance torque converters using specialized equipment to ensure proper function and rotational integrity.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the build process, ensuring products meet internal and OEM standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment including lathes, welders, balancers, and other shop tools.
  • Accurately document each job, including parts used and work completed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required:

  • 1–3 years of mechanical or production experience, preferably with torque converters or automotive driveline components.
  • Hands-on experience operating an engine lathe, with an understanding of tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Familiarity with torque converter operation and internal components.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
  • Welding experience (MIG or TIG) is a plus.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
