We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as the Lead Clothing Sorter. In this role, you will oversee the sorting and organization of donated clothing items, ensuring that they are properly processed and prepared for distribution to those in need. The Lead Clothing Sorter will supervise volunteers and other staff members to maintain efficiency and uphold the standards of St. Vincent de Paul of Indianapolis. 40hrs/week.
Responsibilities:
Supervise Clothing Sorting Operations: Lead and coordinate the sorting of donated clothing items, including inspecting, categorizing, baling and organizing garments based on quality, size, and type.
Train and Support Volunteers: Provide guidance and instruction to volunteers assisting with clothing sorting activities, ensuring that they understand procedures and maintain productivity.
Maintain Inventory Accuracy: Keep accurate records of incoming and outgoing clothing donations, including tracking inventory levels and documenting any discrepancies.
Quality Control: Ensure that all clothing items meet quality standards and are suitable for distribution, discarding any damaged or unsuitable items as necessary.
Assist with Distribution: Collaborate with other team members to prepare clothing items for distribution to clients, helping to fulfill requests and ensure timely delivery of needed items.
Organizational Support: Contribute to the overall mission of St. Vincent de Paul of Indianapolis by participating in team meetings, events, and initiatives as needed.
Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the clothing sorting area, adhering to sanitation guidelines and promoting a culture of safety among staff and volunteers.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Previous experience in a warehouse or sorting environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Forklift certified (preferred)
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as stand for extended periods
